8th MO REUNION in CANTON, ILLINOIS
(sometime between 1895 and 1900)

8th MO Reunion in Illinois

The glass negative of this photograph was purchased on eBay by Brian Shay.   From the negative, Brian was able to read the ribbons on the men' chests.   The ribbons say:

Brigade Reunion
Canton, IL
Sept 21 or 27 (Brian is not sure)

Brian estimates that the photo was taken sometime during the years 1895-2000.   This is based on the age of the men and the style of their neckties.   Note that the photo is marked in the lower left corner as "8th MO Volunteers".

A print of the photo belonged to John Byers Reed.   On the back of the photo is the photographer's stamp: T.N. Phillips, View Artist, Farmington, Illinois.   Reed marked the names of the people he remembered on the back of copy (see photo below).
