ELMWOOD CEMETERY |
Peoria County Illinois |
|
|
Below is a list of 8th MO veterans who are buried in the Elmwood Illinois Cemetery.
The cemetary is small, and the number of 8th MO graves impressed
Bob Markunas, who has made a hobby of locating Civil War graves in Illinois.
(He has provided a database to rootsweb).
Here, in Bob's words, is how he created this list:
"I simply walked the cemetery, jotting down names and units.
This works for veterans with military stones and inscriptions on family
stones noting their service. Sometimes I will jot down men whose
birthdates put them at a likely age to have served and then track them
down using online resources. This works fine with men with names
like Ezekial Worthington, but not so well with common names like George
Smith. There are two separate 8th MO veterans named Isaac Hurff."
